About the Event

Aalto University, the Helsinki Institute of Science and Technology (HIST) and the Finnish Society for Science and Technology Studies organize an ”Aalto Event on Science and Technology in Society” in Helsinki, August 17-19, 2010. The event is open for all and free of charge.
The speakers of the plenary and theme sessions are leading experts in their own fields. In the sessions, they address societal issues linked to science and technology. Among the topics are, e.g. why are prevailing systems of energy production and use so difficult to chance, what is science 2.0, how is scientific knowledge used in policy processes, and what are the central promises and problems of innovation policy. The event is expected to be highly stimulating for researchers, students, and teachers interested in these topics, as well as for the experts and decision makers within innovation policy and research.
